Karunyam Karmam: Santhigiri Ashram launches Cleanliness Drive
Thiruvananthapuram: As part of the 99th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru, Santhigiri Ashram initiated a noble campaign titled “Karunyam Karmam” – a cleanliness drive that began today (August 17).
The program was formally inaugurated by the General Secretary of Santhigiri Ashram, Swami Gururethnam Jnana Thapaswi, who emphasized the importance of compassion in action and community participation.
Organized under the leadership of the Santhigiri Arts and Culture Department, the campaign witnessed the active involvement of devotees and volunteers from Neyyattinkara, Thiruvananthapuram (City and Rural – 12 units), Attingal, Nedumangad, Kollam, and several other regions.
The drive began at 7 a.m. with prayer, setting a spiritual tone to the day’s activities. Monks, nuns, brahmacharis, and brahmacharinis of the Ashram led the initiative, symbolizing the blend of spirituality with social responsibility.
The event highlighted Santhigiri’s vision that true devotion must reflect in practical action, whether it is service to humanity or care for the environment. The cleanliness drive is a call to society to recognize the power of collective action rooted in compassion and discipline.
Santhigiri Ashram invites everyone to join this mission of service and celebrate the legacy of Guru by transforming compassion into meaningful action.
