Pothencode : In honor of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s 93rd birthday, Santhigiri Ashram unveiled the Kalam Smriti Mandapam, a memorial dedicated to the former President of India. The site commemorates Kalam’s visit to the Ashram, where he delivered a memorable speech during his presidency. A statue of Dr. Kalam has been installed at the Mandapam, which Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal inaugurated.
During the event, Minister Balagopal emphasized the significance of Kalam’s legacy, highlighting how the late President, known for his humility and wisdom, lived like a true Rishi. The Minister praised Santhigiri Ashram for its initiative in ensuring Kalam’s contributions are permanently remembered, particularly in a place rooted in the teachings of Navajyoti Sri Karunakara Guru. He described Dr. Kalam as a statesman, scientist, and guide who saw nature and humanity as interdependent forces.
Ashram General Secretary Swami Gururatnam Jnana Thapasvi presided over the event. In addition to the unveiling, Pullampara Grama Panchayat President P.V. Rajesh, who received a national award for his work in water resource management, was honored. Other dignitaries present included Sabir Thirumala, George Sebastian, Shofi K., Poolantara, T. Manikandan Nair, R. Saheerat Bivi, and K. Kirandas.
