23 Feb 2017 - Guru Tradition Promotes Secularism – Katannapally

Pothencode: Indian tradition gives much importance to the sacred guru-disciple institution, which has helped promote a secular spiritual culture in the country. The Guru lineage of Santhigiri Ashram is a fine example of this tradition, said Minister Sri Katannapally Ramachandran, inaugurating Poojita Peeddom Samarpanam celebrations here. The veneration of Guru is an age old culture and Santhigiri has given a new definition to it, which is very much relevant to the age, he added.

He presented the Pratibha Puraskar Awards instituted by Santhigiri Ashram to Ahamad Muhmad Yahia Al Hadabi, Member of Oman Parliament, veteran actress Dr. Sarada, Sri Manish Kumar, CEO, National Skill Dev. Corporation and Sri K.N. Partha Sarathy Pillai, President, World Ayyappa Seva Samiti, USA, in the function, which was presided over by Swami Chaitanya Jnana Tapaswi, General Secretary of the Ashram.

The Minister felicitated the members of Manikkal Grama Panchayat for receiving the best Panchayat Award in the district and also Kum. Arati, a student of Attingal Govt. College, for securing the third rank in M.Sc. Polymer Chemistry.

The key for a house constructed under the project ‘Home for the Poor’ by Santhigiri Ashram was handed over to the beneficiary in the function.

Sri C. Divakaran, MLA released a book about the life of Navajyoti Sri Karunakara Guru on this occasion.
