Santhigiri operates scientifically managed herbal gardens extending to more than 100 acres at Thiruvananthapuram and Palakkad. In these gardens thrive some of the rarest species of herbs. Medicinal trees, creepers, bushes, small plants, grass etc. are being grown here in a natural habitat. Organized cultivation of herbal plants and development of nursery for distribution of saplings is being done. The Ashram has also procured 50 acres of land in Madurai, Tamilnadu for developing herbal gardens. A unique combination of traditional plant experts and qualified botanists work on this project and extensive scientific documentation is being done.

ENTE OUSHADHA GRAMAM - 'MY HERBAL VILLAGE'

Santhigiri Ashram has given shape to a program Ente Oushadha Gramam- 'My Herbal Village'. Through thisthe Ashram distributes medicinal saplings free of cost to the cultivators and also provides necessary assistance to the farmers for cultivation including supply of manure. The ashram guarantees to buy back the medicinal plants cultivated thus through its Ayurveda & Siddha production units, offering deserving price to the farmers. The project also aims to spread awareness among the people through seminars and other programs to promote social forestation, medicinal plant cultivation and traditional healing systems..

A HERBAL GARDEN IN MY SCHOOL AND ONE AT MY HOME TOO

Santhigiri Ashram is conducting a Programme -A herbal garden in my school and one at my home too - in asssosiation with Govt. of Kerala for the promotion of cultivation and protection of medicinal plants. This project which is currently being implemented in Kerala will be taken up on a National level. Santhigiri Ashram is providing seedlings and technical assistance free of cost for this project.
